Upcoming Training Schedule

 Williamson County Fire Chiefs Association
Bi-Annual Field Day
March 10, 2007 8am-4pm
Cedar Park FD Training Facility

On Saturday, March 10, from 8am to 4pm, we will be having our first bi-annual Williamson County Fire Chiefs
Association field day at the Cedar Park Fire Department's training field. The following information is for those
who will be attending. First of all, the association will be picking up the bill for the training and lunch.
But, the departments that are involved will have to be ready to earn it! Each department that is sending students
needs to send at least one instructor to help with the days training. Also, all students and instructors must be
ready to work. Everyone will be responsible not only for training, but clean up and set up after each drill or burn
as well as final clean up at the end of the day. CPFD is providing the field, supplies and safety officers, we all
must provide the manpower. The more involved we are with the training, the more we can learn!

Directions to the training field: take US 183 to Cedar Park. Next to the YMCA on US183
(between Cypress Creek and Lakeline Blvd.) is East Little Elm. Turn on this street (it only goes east) and follow
it until it ends. It T's into Fire Lane - turn left and park. You may park along the roadway in front of the training field
or across the street in the empty lot but DO NOT block the roadway.

Jollyville Fire Department will be sending our heavy rescue for its cascade system as well as our reserve
engine for pumping. No other apparatus are required. In regards to firefighting, make sure that you ask
CPFD Training Chief Larry Mulrain where it's OK to flow water. Also, inform Chief Mulrain BEFORE
you flow any foam. He needs to change a valve setting for the field drainage if we use foam.
Depending on attendance, we are currently planning a three drill rotation after an initial SCBA refresher for all those
involved.

These drills will include:
1) advancing an interior hose line to the 4th floor burn room in the tower and extinguishing the fire,
2) advancing a hose line up a ladder to the balcony of the burn building residential side and into the structure and
3) search and rescue drill inside the search building.

Jollyville Fire Department Captain Andrew Chelf will be available on site for questions. Complete NFPA approved
PPE is required. This includes: bunker coat and pants, bunker boots, helmet, hood, gloves and SCBA.
Students are required to supply their own PPE. I need each department to inform me with the number of students
and instructors that will be attending by Monday, March 5th so we can order food and safety officers.
Email me at blandi@jvfd.org or call the station and leave a message - 258-1038.
